Importing contacts into the MailPal™ Addressbook

MailPal can import data into its database if it's in CSV (Comma Separated Value) format. So, if you can export contact data from software X into CSV format, you can import it into MailPal.

MailPal expects the following from the CSV file to be imported:

  1. All columns must have headers. These headers will be interpreted as field names when they are imported into MailPal.
  2. The first two columns must be the contact name and the contact email address. The headers of these two columns must be: name and email
  3. The name of the CSV file will be the name of the MailPal group that holds all the contacts.

Step 1: Export your data from Outlook™ / Eudora™ / Evolution™ / etc. into CSV format. You might need to consult the documentation for the mail client you use.

Step 2: Open the CSV file using Excel™ or (best) OpenOffice™ (see figure below). Note that the first two columns are the name and email address.

Step 3: Insert the necessary headers, then save the file to CSV format:

Step 4: If necessary, rename the file to be the desired group name.

Step 5: Open MailPal and click on the "Address Book" tab:

Step 6: Click on the "Import" button, and select the CSV file for importing:

Step 7: If the import is successful, a new group will appear. You can use this group to send customized emails to:

Note that clicking each contact on the right panel displays all the fields on the top right. These fields are used in your customized emails. You may also add new fields to a group later.
